Black Bear Lodge Motel

Could use a little updating Septic needed taken care of It was a little smelly There was an unused camper parked in front of the available fire pit which we did not use for fear of catching the camper on fire. Valerie, the host was very nice and helpful We were a party of 4 couples. We will come back to this area in the future. We came here to ride our motorcycles. A great area!

We had a comfortable stay. My friend and I really liked the decor of this double room, like a log cabin on the inside with a rustic way to secure the bathroom door from the inside. I did not realize when I booked that there was no WiFi, that was the main downside. The two double beds take up the whole room, not much floor space around them. The location is convenient to the Natural Bridge hike (a must-see/do) and we enjoyed pulled pork and an IPA at the BBQ restaurant right across the street.

Stayed 5/16-5/18/25 5 STARS!! YAY KAREN!! We were supposed to camp in the area but due to the incoming storm called local places everywhere was was booked. I spoke with Karen & she took my name & #. Called me back about an hour later with 1 room cancellation for $90per nt! At that point we didn't care what kind and expected it to be not so good but better than nothing. We Checked in up the road from it. Karen was the sweetest lady! Got to the room and it was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!! CUTE COZY CLEAN MICROWAVE FRIDGE & Right at the heart of everything . Bar & General Store right across the street Cell service is not good but on the porch You Can Get It. I actually enjoyed no cell service!!! VERY WELL WORTH THE STAY! WE WILL BE BACK PROBABLY EVERYTIME!!! THANK YOU DO MUCH FOR YOUR SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY MISS KAREN! U WERE A LIFESAVER!!!

My wife and I have stayed here four separate times. We love taking some rest and relaxation while visiting Slade. Lots of beautiful scenery, great food and coffee, and this motel has been perfect on every visit, close to multiple adventures.

They have WiFi now! I was worried about staying here because I needed to have a Teams call for work and wasn’t sure where I would get service. The WiFi worked great for the video chat. Perfect signal. Loved the hotel room and the Rustic feel. As close to camping without all the bugs and heat as you can get.

If you are going to stay here, just know there is no cell service in the rooms, no WIFI, and no phones in the room. It is a great way to unplug. I didn't like this since we were on a weekend getaway and had 4 kids with grandma and no way to contact them unless we went outside. Also get the top floor. The people above us sounded like they were bowling till 12:30am. The hotel was nice looking and extremely hot water which I loved. Also we were able to walk across the street to get food.

A nice clean room for a great price. Plenty of other hikers in the other rooms. Very safe. Check in/out is at the coffee shop just down the road. This motel does not have internet or cell service but if you can't live without a wifi signal for one night of your life then what are you even doing visiting the mountains anyway. Will stay here again.

The rooms were very minimalistic, which was we were going for as we don't spend a lot of time in it. They were clean, and the location was perfect. There is no internet and spotty reception. But these things are all mentioned when booking. One note: if you have kids then beware that quiet is very important here. My kids, who were not being loud, caused our neighbor to bang repeatedly on the wall. It was a bit jarring as we were trying to be quiet. But one should be allowed to talk at a normal decibal. Nothing wrong with quiet at all, but just be aware that it is really important here.
